TOP OF THE SOUTH SHORTHORN BULL SALE
8th June 2007
The Annual Sale of the Top of the South Shorthorn Breeders involving Beverly Helm, Norman & Di McKenzie, John & Melissa Jebson, Ross & Jude McKenzie and James, Bill and Judy Austin was held at the Temuka Selling Centre.
25 Bulls were penned and judged by Mr Murray Cowan of the recently dispersed Roselawn Hereford and Angus Stud. Champion Bull went to Bev Helm's Rough Ridges Gus 506 a white bull by Austins Gus U41. Second place went to Norm McKenzie with Maerewhenua Crackerjack 7 a Roan bull by Orena Valiant 0042. Third was another bull of Bev Helms, Rough Ridges Gus 520 a roan bull by Austins Gus U41.
The Bulls were of a very high standard and sold to a good gallery of buyers. 20 of the 25 bulls presented were sold with the top price of $7000 for the Champion Bull. This was a good result under the tight conditions prevailing at the moment. There were still a number of buyers looking for bulls after the sale.
